Storm Insurance Group is thrilled to announce its corporate partnership with Feed Nova Scotia!
Since opening its doors in 1984 as the Metro Food Bank Society, Feed NS has been working tirelessly, along with its member agencies, in creating long-term solutions to this food insecurity in Nova Scotia. Just last year in 2017, Feed NS distributed 1,970,623 kilograms of food to Nova Scotians in need.
Having planted its roots in Halifax, NS before growing nationally, Storm recognizes the importance of the work done by Feed NS in fighting food insecurity in our community. Currently, 13 per cent of Canadians are living in a state of food insecurity, with over 850,000 individuals accessing food banks each month.
While food donations and distributions are a major focus for the organization, Feed NS goes beyond that, advocating for change by educating Nova Scotians on the prevalence of need in our community. The organization aims to raise awareness of the challenges hunger and poverty create each day for thousands of Nova Scotians.
In support of its partnership with the local food bank, Storm has made a donation of $10,000 to Feed NS, and in addition to that, Storm offices across Nova Scotia, including A.P. Reid Insurance Stores, MyGroup Auto & Home Insurance, and Agile Underwriting Solutions will be permanently designated Feed NS donation drop-off locations. This will provide Storm employees as well as its clients and local community members with the opportunity to contribute to Feed NS’ efforts.
Storm CEO, Jamie Reid, says, “We hope our collaboration with Feed Nova Scotia will raise much-needed food donations, but will also provide opportunities to engage with new audiences and provide opportunities to inspire people to support Feed NS in the long term to help deliver lasting change. We take our Corporate Social Responsibility seriously – we want to build an on-going partnership with Feed Nova Scotia which continues to deliver tangible benefits to those in need within our communities across the province.”
